About Kawe

Kawe is a social enterprise that aims to develop human capacity on the African continent by encouraging Africans of all ages to appreciate and embrace a reading culture. KAWE is a Yoruba word of Nigerian origin meaning to READ!

Our focus is first African as we look to champion this cause across the nations of the continent, sharing the message on the power of reading and by extension, enhancing the heritage of our continent.

Kawe Books commenced operation in April 2017 out of a desire to meet a fundamental need we discovered while encouraging young persons to read.

Since we committed to reading mainly African literature, we realized how constraining that could be as there were not so many authors as we would have loved compared to the western world.

We embarked on a new mission to encourage young Nigerians to write fiction and accomplished Nigerians to write Biographies, Business Books and Educational Books. To effectively achieve this, we partnered with the National Library and other established publishing houses.
